Baby Asparagus
Bacon Slices
Olive Oil
Seasoned Pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Cut the bottoms off the asparagus and group into small bundles.
Wrap the bundles with a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
Sprinkle bundles with seasoned pepper.

Heat a cast iron pan or BBQ and add a small amount of oil.
Add asparagus bundles.
Turn frequently until bacon is well browned on all sides.

This is a common item on a Japanese Yakatori menu. It's made with 'baby' asparagus, but larger asparagus will also work as will enoki mushrooms. You can season these with a Yakatori sauce if you like (sweetened soy sauce). We serve these as a side dish but they can also be a main course served with rice.
