1½ cup sugar
⅓ cup water
1 T. Karo Syrup
⅛ t. salt
2 egg whites
1 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all together in top of a double boiler. Boil for 7 minutes using an electric hand mixer - beating while it cooks. Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Continue beating until right consistency - forming peaks.

This is the icing that I used on many of the kid's birthday cakes - especially on Elizabeth's cakes shaped in an E.
