1½ c. sugar
1 c. oil
3 eggs
2 c. plain flour
1 t. ground cloves
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. nutmeg
1 t. salt
1 t. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
I c. fig preserves (8 oz. jar)
I t. vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325°; grease a small bundt pan or 9" x 13" baking pan.
In large mixing bowl, mix sugar, oil and eggs, in this order. Alternate adding remaining dry ingredients and buttermilk; stir in preserves and vanilla. Pour into pan and bake 40 - 50 minutes until golden brown.

Glaze:

1 c. sugar
I stick butter
I T. karo syrup
1 t. vanilla extract
½ c. buttermilk
½ t. baking soda

In saucepan, mix all ingredients; heat to boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour over warm cake. Cake may be sliced prior to glazing to glaze sides.
