1/4 c. shortening
1 small egg

1 t. soda dissolved in 1/2 c water
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. nutmeg or allspice
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c molasses
2 c. sifted flour
1 t. ginger
1/2 t. cloves

Glaze
warm water
powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together shortening & egg. Stir in the rest. Chill. Drop by teaspoonsfull on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake until set - just until when touched with finger almost no print remains. Frost with glaze made with warm water and powdered sugar.

350 degrees, 7-8 minutes
