1 c. flour
1/4 t. salt
2 T. Cocoa
2 T. melted shortening (or oil)
1 c. brown sugar
1 3/4 c. hot water
2 t. baking powder
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1 c. chopped nuts (if desired)
1/4 c. cocoa

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Blend flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and 2 T. cocoa in bowl. Stir in milk and shortening. Blend in nuts (if desired). Spread in square pan (9x9x1 3/4"). Sprinkle with mixture of brown sugar & 1/4 c. cocoa. Pour hot water over entire batter. Bake 45 min. During baking cake mixture rises to top and chocolate sauce settles to bottom. Cut into squares; invert each square onto dessert plate, spoon sauce over. 9 servings.
