Special oatmeal is simple. You see those flavors of instant oatmeal in the little pouches and consider paying three times the price of regular oatmeal. Then you get a box of regular instant oatmeal and add the fixings. What is in brown sugar & raisin oatmeal? Apple Cinnamon? Quaker includes microwave directions on the big box. Just add the extras. Also, Cocoa-Wheats are just what they say : Cocoa & cream of wheat with sugar. Easy. Julie & Jeanie liked it with a tablespoon of peanut butter added for Reese Wheats.

I included this for Jeannie and Julie. I'm sure Jeannie remembers her famous bowl of oatmeal she specially requested then refused to eat. She looked at that oatmeal for two days. The first morning she refused to eat the oatmeal. Lunch I couldn't control because she ate at school, but it was in front of her for supper that night, and she still refused to eat it. In the morning, there it was again. For supper that night, I made one of her favorites (sneaky of me) She finally compromised by having me heat it in the microwave. She ate the oatmeal and some of her favorite dinner. From that day on, if she requested something special, she ate it at once!
