* 6 to 7 cups flour
* 3½ tsp baking powder
* 1 tsp nutmeg
* 1/2 tsp salt
* 4 eggs slightly beaten
* 2 cups sugar
* 1½ cups buttermilk
* 1/2 cup sour cream
* 2 tsp baking soda
* 1 tsp vinegar

In large bowl, mix 6 cups of flour, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside. In another large mixing bowl, slightly beat eggs and add sugar to slightly beaten eggs until smooth. Add buttermilk, sour cream and beat until smooth. Dissolve baking soda in vinegar and stir into the buttermilk mixture. Add dry ingredients to buttermilk mixture and mix well. The dough will be soft . You may need to add more flour working on a well floured surface until it isn't sticky. Working with half the dough, roll out to 1/3 inch thickness. Cut with doughnut cutter. Roll and cut all doughnuts before starting to fry. Start with first doughnuts cut and fry in hot oil that is 360º. Fry until golden brown on each side. Flipping once. Drain on paper towels. While still warm , doughnuts can be rolled in sugar and cinnamon.
