25 medium cucumbers
2 tablespoons pickling spices
4 cups cider vinegar
8 cups sugar
5 teaspoons coarse salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cover cucumbers (whole) with boiling water. Let stand until next morning. Drain. Repeat this process for 3 more mornings. On 5th day, drain and slice in inch pieces. Combine all other ingredients bring to a boil and pour over cucumbers. Let stand 2 days. On 3rd day bring to a boil. Pack in hot sterilized jars and seal. This pickle is very firm and crisp. Be careful to see that cucumbers are weighted down in boiling water, so that they are completely submerged, otherwise they will be soft.
