This recipe for No fail pie crust, by Debbie Jones, is from The Jones Family Cookbook,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
4 c. flour 1 T. Sugar ( opt) 1 tsp. salt 1¾ c. lard ( can use half butter) ½ c. cold water 1 egg 1 T. vinegar
You can buy lard in the dairy section in sticks like butter.
Mix dry ingredients, then cut in the lard into this mixture. Combine water, egg, and vinegar, then add to dry mixture. Mix well. Divide dough into 5 patties and wrap each in wax paper. Chill ½ hour before rolling out, or freeze 3 to 6 months. Each pattie makes 1 pie.
Makes 5 pie crust
This pie crust is very flaky. I have used other versions but always come back to this one.
