1 c. of shortening
¾ c. of brown sugar
¾ c. of white sugar
2 eggs, unbeaten
1 T. of hot water
1 ½ c. of flour
1 tsp. of soda
1 tsp. of salt
2 c. of quick cooking oats
1 c. of chopped pecans
1- 12 oz. pkg. of chocolate chips
2 tsp. of vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º.
Cream shortening and sugars in large bowl with mixer until smooth and creamy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add hot water and continue to beat until well blended.
Sift flour, salt, and soda together. Spoon into shortening mixture and beat thoroughly.
By hand stir in oats, chocolate chips, and pecans.
Drop by ½ teaspoonful onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes.

To FREEZE: cool thoroughly; place in a rigid container; freeze.
