½ cup shortening
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 ½ cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 or 3 really ripe bananas, mashed
1 tsp almond extract
1 tsp vanilla
1 (6-oz) package chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325º.
2. Blend shortening, eggs, and sugar.
3. Blend flour, baking soda, and salt.
4. Blend bananas, almond extract, and vanilla.
5. Add dry ingredients to egg mixture, alternating with banana mixture.
6. When smooth, mix in chocolate chips.
7. Bake in Pyrex loaf pan for about 60 minutes. Loaf should be nicely browned and toothpick should come out clean.
