Ingredients:
Ingredients:
¾ cup lukewarm water
1 ½ tsp yeast
2 cups flour
1 ½ tsp sugar
Margarine
Water
Coarse salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º. Pour the water into the large mixing bowl. Mix in the sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on the water. Let it set about 5 minutes until bubbly. Add 1 ½ cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Stir until the ingredients are blended and form a ball. Place dough on lightly floured surface. Dust your hands with flour and knead dough: a) Use heel of your hands to push dough away, b) Turn the dough ¼ of the way around, c) Fold the dough toward you, d) Push again with the heels of your hand. Knead in remainder of flour if needed. After about 5 minutes, the dough should be smooth, not sticky. Divide the dough into 3 - 4 pieces. Roll each piece into a long snake, about ½" thick and 15" long. Shape the dough into a pretzel as shown in the diagram. Grease baking sheet. Place pretzels on baking sheet, allowing several inches between each. Use some melted margarine and paint it on the pretzel. Sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Cool on wire rack.
