2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
½ cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp soda
2 cubes of butter
1 cup water
½ cup cocoa

FROSTING: 1 cube butter
⅓ cup cocoa
⅓ cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
appr 3½ cups powdered sugar
1 cup chopped walnuts, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. In a large bowl mix the flour, sugar, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla and soda. In a saucepan on the stove, heat 2 cubes of butter, 1 cup water and ½ cup cocoa. When melted, add slowly to flour mixture, cook on rimmed baking sheet for 20 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes on a rack, while making the frosting. Using saucepan, melt the frosting ingredients, add powdered sugar last, taking off heat and whisking strongly to melt the powdered sugar, add chopped walnuts if using and pour over cake and let cool again for 10 minutes before serving.
