3 Medium Onions Thinly Sliced
4 Tbsp Butter
1 Tbsp Flour
2 Cups Consomme
4 Cups Water
¼ Cup Boiled Milk
Salt and Pepper to Taste
½ Cup Grated Swiss or Parmesan Cheese
6 Sliced of French Bread

Directions:
Directions:
Cook onions in 2 tbsp heated butter in heavy skillet till slightly browned.
Sprinkle with flour and cook over low heat till golden, but not dark brown.
Add consomme and water bring to a boil, stirring constantly with wooden spoon.
Simmer for 20 minutes uncovered, add milk and seasoning.
Pour into individual bowls, place slices of bread sprinkle remaining melted butter and cheese.
Brown quickly under broiler.
