Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 lb. smoked ground beef or unsmoked ground beef equivalent
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper (optional)

1 can petite diced tomato
1 tsp oregano
1-2 tsps garlic powder (make it two, it's better that way!)
1 tsp ground pepper

1 stick of salted butter (or less, but seriously, at LEAST a half-stick...)
2 cups elbow macaroni
4 cups tomato juice

Directions:
Directions:
Bring large pot of water to boil for the macaroni (and don't forget to salt the pasta water!)

Brown and break up the hopefully-smoked ground beef with the onion and bell pepper and drain off the fat. Add oregano, garlic powder, black pepper, and canned tomatoes, and reduce to simmer. When pasta water boils, add elbow macaroni and boil 7 minutes. Drain macaroni and return to pot. Add stick of butter (yes, the WHOLE stick), tomato juice, and the browned meat. Bring up to medium and let it cook another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve in a bowl with buttered bread on the side.

Personal Notes:
I can not stress enough how you're going to want that stick of butter in there. And the smoked hamburger - I just throw a pound of hamburger on a piece of foil and put it in the smoker when I'm making ribs or chops or whatever, just let it soak up some smoke for 30-45 minutes, then let it cool, put it in a freezer bag and freeze it until needed.
