Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 lb flour (8 cups)
¼ lb butter
6 whole eggs
1 pint milk (warm) ( 2 cups)
1 cup sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon salt
1 Yeast cake (dissolve in ¼ cup of warm water)
1 teaspoon of whiskey (optional)
½ cup of raisins (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Place yeast cake in warm water to dissolve. Place flour, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl. In another bowl, add warm milk (don't boil) and place butter inside. The butter will melt.
Crack and beat all eggs in another bowl and then place in dry ingredients and mix. Pour milk and melted butter and add vanilla extract and mix ingredients together.
Once mixed, add the dissolved yeast cake and mix well. You can then add the whiskey and raisins (if you want).

* Use a Wooden Spoon to mix, but Hey if you like to use your hands, then please do!!"

Once mixed, leave batter in bowl. Put in a warm place-Cover with a towel. Let dough rise. When it doubles in size punch it down and fill your baking pans. Do not fill pans to the top. (I use loaf pans and bundt pans)
Let dough rise again.

Preheat oven to 350º. To get a shiny top (crack an egg ad beat it. Brush the tops of babka before they are put into the oven. Cook until loaf rises and turns a slight brown.
