½ c. butter
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 cans (8½ oz.) sliced pineapple, drained
14 maraschino cherries
pecan halves (optional)
1 yellow cake mix ( follow directions for eggs and oil)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º
Heat butter in 9x13 in. pan in oven until butter is melted. Remove pan from oven.
Sprinkle brown sugar over butter.
Cover bottom of pan with pineapple slices, cutting some in half to fit.
Place cherries in center of curves of pineapple slices.
Arrange pecan halves around pineapple slices if desired.
Prepare cake mix per directions on box.
Pour cake batter over the fruit.
Bake until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, about 45 min.
Invert onto platter and let pan remain a few minutes.
Loosen edges with a knife and carefully remove pan.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
