"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Personal Notes:
This cake is one of my best memories of my Aunt Mary. My mom and us 3 kids and my Grandpa Yohe would go to Geneseo, Ill once a month to see my Aunt Mary and her family. Aunt Mary was my dad’s oldest sister. She would always make this chocolate cake. I loved it. And she would have her sweet pickles that she had made also. I loved my Aunt Mary and her daughter, Chris. Chris is my age and we spent a lot of time together.
