3 T. shortening (Crisco)
3 oz. unsweetened chocolate
2 c. confectioners' sugar
tsp. salt
⅓ c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
In medium saucepan, over low heat, melt shortening and chocolate.
Stir in remaining ingredients. Beat until smooth.
Place pan of frosting in bowl of ice and water.
Continue beating until frosting is smooth and of spreading consistency.

Fills and frosts two 9 in. layers or one 13x5 in. cake.
