4 slices bacon
2 T. butter
1 clove garlic, minced
1 c. chopped onion
1½ c. chopped green pepper
¼ c. finely chopped parsley
1½ c. thinly sliced celery
1 c. chicken broth
1 can (1 lb. 12 oz.) tomatoes
1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
1 T. lemon juice
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. pepper
½ tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
1 bay leaf
½ tsp. dried thyme
2 lbs. cooked shrimp

Directions:
Directions:
In large saucepan, saute bacon until crisp. Remove to paper towels and crumble.
To the bacon fat, add butter, garlic, onion, green pepper, parsley and celery.
Cook, stirring until vegetables are tender, about 5 min.
Add chicken broth, tomatoes, tomato paste, lemon juice, salt, pepper, red pepper, 1 bay leaf and thyme.
Bring to boiling. Reduce heat, and simmer covered for 30 min.
Stir in shrimp. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer 5 min.

Serve over rice.
