"The tradition of Italian cooking is that of the matriarch. This is the cooking of grandma. She didn't waste time thinking too much about the celery. She got the best celery she could and then she dealt with it."--Mario Batali

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 two crust pie dough
1½ c. sugar or splenda
2 T. cornstarch
2 c. mild
4 T. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Put pie crust into pan. Cut other crust into strips. Twist strips into bottom of crust in a lattice pattern. Set aside. Mix all other ingredients and pour over twisted strips. Push dough into milk mixture. Set pie into a cookie sheet (it will probably boil over). Bake at 350º 35-45 min. This Pie is better if left a little gooey in center and around edges. The crust will bake, but the custard will still be gooey.

Personal Notes:
None of us remember Mom's dad, Grand Pap Mayhugh, but everytime she made this pie, either her, or Mom Mom would always remark that it was his favorite pie.
