1 ¼ c boiling water
1 c quick cooking rolled oats
1 stick butter
2 eggs,1 c brown sugar, 1 c sugar
1 ⅓ c flour
1 tsp soda
½ tsp nutmeg
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon

Topping
6 T melted butter
1 c brown sugar
1 c coconut
¼ c cream or canned milk
1 c pecans or black wallnuts
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Oven 350º
Put oats and butter in mixing bowl; pour boiling water over this mixture. Let stand for 20 minutes. Add eggs, brown sugar and white sugar. Sift flour soda, nutmeg, salk and cinnamon tgether and add to mixture in bowl. Pour into a well greased 9 x 13-inch metal pan Bake at 350º for 45 minutes.

Prepare Topping
Mix butter and sugar. Add remaining ingredients. Spread on top of warm cake. Place in broiler under low flame 3-7 minutes until golden.

(Note from Kathy) The first time I made this by myself, I put the cake in the broiler and used a pyrex pan. The glass pan broke under the direct boiler heat.
