1/2 pound unsalted butter, softened
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/8 cup whole milk
1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract

Doubled Recipe
1 pound unsalted butter, softened
5 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup whole milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
In the bowl of an electric mixer, using the paddle attachment, whip the butter on high speed until very soft. Meanwhile, sift your powdered sugar into a medium bowl. Lower the speed of the mixer, and pour the sugar into the bowl alternately with milk. Mix until well combined. Add the vanilla and turn the mixer speed up to beat the icing until it becomes very light and fluffy.
