1/2 pound (2 sticks) unsalted butter
3/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 large egg yolk
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup chopped raw pecans ( not salted)
pecan halves , for decorating - 1 per cookie

Directions:
Directions:
1- Heat oven to 325ºF
2- Cream together butter and sugar. Add egg yolk. Sift together flour and salt; add to butter mixture and beat well. Stir in chopped pecans.
3- Drop batter by teaspoonfuls onto a baking sheet. Press one pecan half into the center of each cookie.
4- Bake for 12-15 minutes; let cool 2 minutes on cookie sheet then remove to wire racks to cool
