¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup butter, room temperature
½ cup sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla
1 teaspoon almond extract
6 ounces chocolate chips (about 1 cup)
Red decorating sugar
Green decorating sugar

Preheat oven to 325º
Bake 20 minutes, until lightly brown on the bottom edges

Sift flour and salt onto waxed paper or parchment paper. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy; blend in flavorings. Mix in flour mixture, a third at a time, mixing well after each addition. Chill at least half an hour. Shape dough, a teaspoon at a time, around 3 chocolate chips to make a small ball. Dip one side of each ball into decorating sugar. Place 1 inch apart, sugared side up, on cookie sheets covered with parchment paper.
