1 c butter
2 c sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp soda
½ c buttermilk
3 ½ c flour
1 lb. chopped dates
1 lb. candy orange slices, chopped
2 c chopped nuts
1 can flaked coconut
1 c orange juice
2 c powdered sugar

Oven 250º
Cream butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well after each. Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to creamed mixture. Place flour in large bowl and add dates, oraonges slices and nuts. Stir to coat each piece. Add flour mixture and coconut to creamed mixture. Then, work up with hand. Put in greased and floured pan.

Bake at 250º oven in 13 x 9 x 3 inch pan for 2 hours, or in a tube pan for 2½ hours. Combine orange juice and powdered sugar. Pour over cake and let stand overnight.
