1½ lb. ground beef
¼ lb. ground pork sausage (or 1-2 links with skin removed)
1 small onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 can (16 oz.) diced tomatoes
1½ c. frozen corn, room temp and drained
1T. chili powder or 1 pkg. taco seasoning mix
1 tsp. salt (opt.)

1 c. cornmeal
1 c. whole milk
2 eggs, well beaten
1 c. shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º
In a large skillet, cook and stir hamburger, sausage, onion and garlic until meat is browned.
Drain the fat into a can and throw away. Don't pour down the sink!
Stir in the tomatoes (with the liquid), corn, chili powder and salt.
Heat to boiling.
Pour into ungreased 9x9 baking dish or 2 qt. casserole.
In a small bowl, mix cornmeal, milk and eggs with a fork.
Pour over the meat mixture and sprinkle with cheese.
Bake 40-50 min. or until golden-brown.
