2 1/2 c flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 c butter, softened
3/4 c sugar
3/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 T orange juice
grated zest of one orange
1/4 tsp orange extract
1 large egg
2 oz semisweet chocolate
1/4 c super fine sugar

Mix flour and baking powder, set aside. Beat butter and sugar with electric mixer. Add vanilla extract, orange juice, orange zest, orange extract, egg, beating until blended. Mix in flour mixture to form soft dough. Divide in half. Press half into disk, wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 1 hour. Melt chocolate in a double boiler. Knead chocolate into remaining dough. Press into disk, wrap and refrigerate. Preheat oven to 350º. Line three cookie sheets with parchment paper. Roll out plain dough to thickness of 1/4 inch. Use a 3 inch star shaped cookie cutter. Place on parchment paper 1 inch apart and refrigerate for a few minutes. Repeat with chocolate dough. Use a 2 inch star shaped cookie cutter to cut out the centers of the large star cookies. Place the small chocolate stars into the holes in the large cookies and vice versa. Sprinkle with super fine sugar. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until just golden at the edges. Transfer to racks to cool.
