1 cup white sugar
½ cup water
2 egg yolks
1½ cups flour
3 tsps baking powder
½ cup butter
1 juice and rind of an orange
½ tsp salt
1 beaten egg whites

Orange Filling
½ cup sugar
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp butter
3 tbsps corn starch
1 egg
1 tsp flour
¾ cups water
1 juice and rind of an orange

Directions:
Directions:
Cake
Beat egg yolks with sugar and 1 tbsp of water for 1 minute. Add grated rind and juice of the orange to remaining water. Add butter and mix well.

Mix dry ingredients together, add liquids slowly while beating till well combined. Beat egg whites till light and fluffy. Fold egg whites into the batter. Bake cake till the toothpick comes out clear. Set aside.

Filling
Mix dry ingredients with butter, then add water and cook until it thickens. Beat egg slightly, then add to cooked mixture. Add orange juice and rind.

When the cake has cool, ice the cake.
