Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/2 lb. phyllo sheets
1/2 lb. melted butter
1/2 lb. chopped walnuts
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Syrup:
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
1 clove
1 cinnamon stick

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the walnuts, sugar, and cinnamon and set aside.

Phyllo sheets dry out fast, so keep them covered with a damp towel while working. Begin by cutting 5 sheets in half. Butter each half-sheet and stack 10 buttered half-sheets one on top of the other in a 13 x 9 x 2" pan. Covered the 10th half-sheet and cover with about 1/3 of the walnut mixture. Butter 5 more half-sheets and stack them on top of the sheets in the pan. Spread another 1/3 of the walnut mixture on the top sheet. Complete by buttering 5 more half-sheets and stacking them on top of the sheets in the pan. Spread the last of the walnut mixture on the top sheet. Butter 5 more half-sheets and stack them on top of the sheets in the pan.

Using a VERY sharp knife, cut into serving-size pieces. Heat the remaining butter (about 1/2 cup) and pour over all. Bake in a 325 degree oven for about 1 1/2 hours.

During the final 10 minutes of baking, make the syrup. Boil the water, sugar, and lemon juice with the clove and cinnamon stick for 5-20 minutes; remove clove and cinnamon stick. Pour the hot syrup over the slightly cooled baklava.

Makes 24 servings.
