3 oz smoked ham or 3 slices of bacon, cut into ½-inch pieces.

2 c chicken broth.

2 lbs collard greens, stems and thick center ribs removed, leaves coarsely chopped. (You can use precut fresh collards found near the packaged salad greens)

½ tsp coarse salt

Combine all ingredients in a 6-quart oval slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW 9 hours.
