½ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 ¼ cup flour
¼ cup milk
½ tsp soda
½ tsp salt
½ cup cocoa
Marshmallows

Frosting:
1 ¼ cup powdered sugar
pinch (1/8 tsp) salt
1½ Tbl butter
2½ Tbl cocoa
2½ Tbl milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening & sugar. Add egg & vanilla. Beat well. Add all remaining ingredients except marshmallows. Drop onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 8 minutes. Press ½ marshmallow, sticky side down, into baked cookie. Frost with Surprise Frosting.

Frosting - combine & spread on cooled Chocolate Surprise Cookies. Makes 1 ½ doz. Can be doubled.
