1 pkg. of yeast
5 to 5 ½ c. of flour
1 tsp. of baking soda
4 to 6 T. of sugar
2 c. of buttermilk
2 T. of warm water
3 tsp.of baking powder
1 tsp. of salt
1 c. of shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º
Dissolve yeast in warm water
Sift flour with baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar
Add shortening and blend in, then add buttermilk
Add yeast and warm water
Knead until well blended
Roll out onto a floured surface until ½” thick
Cut out circles with a glass jar or a canning ring
Fold over and place on a cookie sheet
Bake in oven for 10 minutes or until done

*the dough can be refrigerated for up to a week in an airtight bowl
