2 cups all purpose flour
1 T. sugar
1 T. baking powder
½ tsp. garlic powder
½ tsp. salt
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut into cubes
¾ cup buttermilk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
⅓ cup diced ham
2 T. chopped fresh chives

Preheat oven to 425º
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt. Add cold butter, using your fingers to work the butter into the dry ingrdients until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the buttermilk, chesse, ham, and chives until a soft dough forms.

Working on a lightly floured surface,knead the dough 3-4 times until it comes together. roll the dough into an 8 inch circle, about 1 inch thick. Cut into 8 wedges.

Place scones on prepared baking sheet. Place in oven and bake for 18-20 minutes or until firm to the touch and lightly browned.

Serve immediately.
