1/2c Crisco
1 1/2c Sugar
2 Eggs
1 tbsp. Cocoa
2c Flour
1/2 tsp. Salt
1c Buttermilk
1 Tbsp. Vanilla
2 oz Red Food Coloring
1 tap. Baking Soda
1 Tbsp. Vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream the Crisco & sugar, then add the eggs.
2. Sift: flour, cocoa, & salt together 3 times.
3. Add dry mix alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture, add vanilla, then food coloring.
4. Beat well then fold in baking soda disolved in vinegar.
5. Bake 2 9” circular layers @ 350 for 30 min.
