1/2 c butter
1/2 c shortening
2 c sugar
5 eggs separated
2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 c buttermilki
1 tsp vanilla
1 small can Angel Flake Coconut
1 c chopped pecans

Frosting
6 Tbsp butter
4 oz cream cheese softened
1 1/2 lb confectioner sugar
2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time. Add baking soda to buttermilk. Add to sugar mixture alternately with flour. Add vanilla, nuts and coconut. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into 3 9" cake pans for 25-30 minutes. Beat butter and cream cheese until smooth. Beat in sugar and vanilla. Spread between cake layers and on top.
