Shell for pie:
2 egg whites (room temp preferred)
1/2 cup sugar
dash of salt
1/8 teaspoon cream of tarter
1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Ice cream (see directions)

Directions:
Beat egg whites until light and fluffy. Gradually add sugar, salt, and cr of tarter. Beat until stiff peaks form. Stir in nuts if desired. Put in well buttered (all the way up the sides, too) 10 inch pie pan. Bake 1 hour 15 minutes at 250 deg. Turn off oven but do not open. Leave for 15 minutes. Open door slightly and leave in oven until completely cooled.

When cooled, add mixture of softened vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup to taste. Or softened strawberry ice cream is a good option, too. Put in covered container and freeze until ready to serve.

NOTE: 1½ recipes of the above is enough for two 9 inch pie pans.
