2 pounds beef for stew, cubed
5 cups beef broth
1 pound carrots
1 small rutabaga
3 cups potatoes
1 onion finely chopped
Salt
Pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Dice the beef into bite sized cubes.
Cover with water.
Simmer for one hour.
Separately wash and peel the vegetables and potatoes.
Cut them into bite sized cubes about the same size.
Bring the beef broth to a boil.
Add the carrots and rutabaga and cook 15 minutes.
Add the potatoes and cook another 15 minutes.
Add the meat and onion.
Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Continue to cook until the stew is thicken.
Meat, vegetable, and potatoes should be tender, not mushy.
Stir occasionally. Don’t let burn.

If not thick enough add a bit of corn starch to water and make a slurry to thicken the stew.
