1 lb (2¼ c) green split peas
1 meaty ham bone (1½ lbs)
1½ c onion, chopped
¼ tsp ground marjoram
1 tbs chicken bouillon
½ tsp pepper
1 c diced celery
1 c grated carrots

Directions:
Directions:
Cover peas with 2 quarts cold water and simmer gently 2 minutes; remove from heat; cover and let stand 1 hour.

Add bone, onion, chicken bouillon, pepper and marjoram. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer (don't boil) 1½ hours. Stir occasionally.

Remove bone; cut off meat and dice. Return meat to soup; add celery and carrots. Cook slowly, uncovered, 30-40 minutes.

Enjoy with your favorite home made bread or corn muffins.
