2 lbs light brown sugar
1 full can plus one 3/4 can (large) carnation milk
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp vanilla

1 lb = 16 oz
1 lb = 2 to 2 1/2 cups firmly packed

Directions:
Directions:
Pour brown sugar in saucepan. Add carnation milk and stir over low heat. Bring to a boil. Cook for 30-to 45 min stirring often.

Test fudge by dropping bit of mixture into a glass of cold water. Fudge is ready when hot mixture turns into a ball when it hits cold water. Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla. Beat fudge vigourously while pot sits in sink filled with cold water. Pour into buttered pan. Fudge will harden on its own as it cools. Be patient.
