1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1 ¼ cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 ½ cps flour
1 ¼ tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp salt
1 square (1 oz.) unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
green food coloring
½ tsp peppermint extract
red food coloring
½ tsp almond extract

Cream butter. Gradually add sugar and beat til light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt, gradually add to creamed mixture.

Divide dough into three parts. To one part add green color and peppermint extract. To the second part add red coloring and almond extract. To the third part add melted chocolate. Chill for easy handling.

Line a 1½ qt loaf pan with aluminum foil (let foil extend over edge of pan) Pack chocolate dough in layer on bottom, cover with red dough, top with layer of green dough, Cover and chill overnight.

Lift dough from pan with foil. Cut in half lengthwise. Cut into ¼ inch slices. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake in preheated 350º oven for about 10 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool.
