2 tbsp vegetable oil
6 tbsp butter
1 cup chopped onion
1 1/3 cup chopped celery
1 1/2 cup chopped carrot
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork
salt and black pepper
2 cups whole milk
1/4 tsp nutmeg
2 cup red wine
1 large can plum tomatoes with juice, chopped
1 large can tomato sauce
2 bay leaves


Directions:
Directions:
On medium heat, add oil, butter, onion, until translucent. Add celery, carrots, cook 2 minutes, stirring, not browning add to slow cooker or large pot. Fry meat, break up with fork, and when and no longer pink add to vegetables. Add all other ingredients and stir. Cover with lid or tin foil with small crack to let steam escape. Simmer slowly for 4 to 5 hours. Taste and season with salt, pepper.
