Ingredients:
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. butter
2 eggs
1/3 c. hot water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
Enough flour to make a dough stiff enough to shape into rolls.

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together and work into rolls that "hang" together. Place rolls into freezer till firm. Slice (1/4 " slices) and bake at 375ºF. Stick together with jam and store in airtight container. These cookies freeze well.

Note: Nearly any jam will work with these, but make sure the jam is not too runny. A favorite jam at our house is Wild Plum Jam. A double-fruit Apricot jam also works very well in these cookies.
