3 cups sugar
1 cup oil
4 eggs beaten
1 lb. (2 cups) canned pumpkin
3½ cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. cloves
⅔ cup water
2 cups canned, drained pumpkin tidbits

cream cheese or whipped cream, as desired

Directions:

Cream sugar and oil together. Add eggs and pumpkin and mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with water. Fold in pineapple tidbits. Pour into 2 greased and floured loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1½ hours. Let stand 10 minutes, remove from pans to cool. Serve with cream cheese or whipped cream.

Makes 2 loaves.

Great Grandma W. always wanted to make everyone happy. She once asked Pop Pop what he wanted for breakfast. She was making eggs, so he said an egg "sunny side up." When the egg yolk broke, she nearly threw it away before he could stop her! It took him a few minutes to convince her that he really wanted the egg before she was willing to serve the "imperfect" egg, which he happily gobbled down.
