1 lb. dried pinto beans, rinsed
Beer or water
2 - 10oz. cans diced tomatoes with green chilé peppers
1/2 lb. bacon cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 onion, chopped
1 tbsp. chili powder (or to taste)
1 tbsp. cumin (or to taste)
11/2 tsp. garlic powder (or to taste)
Jalapeño (optional)
1/2 bunch fresh cilantro, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Place beans into a large pot and pour in enough water to cover by 2-3 inches. Let beans soak overnight.

Drain beans, return to pot and pour in fresh water/beer to cover. Add tomatoes, bacon, onion, jalapeño, and all spices except cilantro. Bring to boil, reduce heat to low & simmer for 3 hours. Stir cilantro into mixture and simmer until beans are soft (about 1 more hour).
