Ingredients: |
Ingredients: 1 cup cold butter 1⅔ cup flour 4 Tbsp. ice water sugar

Directions: |
Directions:Sift flour on baking board. Cut in butter with knives or pastry blender. Turn into bowl, add ice water gradually and work with wooden spoon until smooth. Cover, chill ½ hour. Divide into 6 portions. Roll out very thinly on wax paper. Cut one circle out of each portion and prick with fork. Lift wax paper onto baking sheet. Brush circles with ice water and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 450 degrees for 6-8 minutes until golden brown. Keep on waxed paper until cold. |

Vanilla Cream Filling |

Ingredients: 2 egg yolks 1 1/2 Tbsp. butter 3/4 Tbsp. potato flour or cornstarch 1 cup cream 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 Tbsp. sugar

Directions: |
Directions:Mix all ingredients, except vanilla, in double boiler. Cook until smooth and thick, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Beat occasionally until cold. |

Icing |

Ingredients: |
Ingredients: 1 cup powdered sugar 1/2 Tbsp. lemon juice 1 1/2 Tbsp. water

Directions: |
Directions:Mix all ingredients and stir until smooth. |

Assembly |

Ingredients: |
Ingredients: Torte leaves Applesauce Vanilla cream filling Icing Whipped cream Candied orange peels Almonds Mint leaves
|

Directions: |
Directions:Spread torte leaves alternatively with apple sauce and vanilla cream filling. Cover top with icing. Garnish with whipped cream, candied orange peels, mint leaves, and almonds.
Makes 12-16 servings. |
