½ lb. chopped dates
½ cup water
2 tbsps. brown sugar
1 tsp. orange rind, grated
2 tbsps. orange juice
1 tsp. lemon juice
1½ cups rolled oats
1½ cups flour
½ tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. salt
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Combine chopped dates, water, brown sugar, orange rind and cook until thick. Add orange juice and lemon juice after cooked. Cool completely. Combine rolled oats, flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, brown sugar and butter together, mix well. Pat ⅔ of mixture into a greased 9" x 9" pan. Spread filling over crust and sprinkle with remaining crumbs. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Chill before cutting.
