1 Package (4 oz) Baker's German Brand Sweet Chocolate
1/2 Cup Coffee (made)
1 Cup Butter
2 Cups Sugar or Sugar Free Substitute
4 Egg Yolks
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
2 1/4 Cups Sifted All-purpose Flour *
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Buttermilk
4 Eggs Whites, stiffy beaten

* Or use 2 1/2 Cups Sifted Swan Down Cake Flour

Add another teaspoon vanilla if using Sugar Free Substitute

Melt cut up chocolate in coffee. Cool. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add yolks, one at a time, beating well after each. Blend in vanilla and chocolate. Sift flour with soda and salt; add alternately with buttermilk to chocolate mixture, beating after each addition until smooth. Fold in beaten whites. Pour into three 9-inch pans, lined on bottoms with wax paper or two 8-inch lined pans. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes. If baking in 8-inch pans, bake at 325 degrees. Let cake cool before taking out of pans. Frost with Coconut Pecan frosting.

If Sugar Free Substitute was used, bake at 325 degrees. If 8-inch pans bake at 320 degrees.
