Mom's Hershey Syrup Brownies Recipe

Brownie Batter |

Ingredients: |
Ingredients: 1/2 c butter softened 1 c sugar 4 eggs 1 1/2 c chocolate syrup (can use homemade or Hershey's) 1c flour 1/2 c nuts 1tsp vanilla

Directions: |
Directions:Cream together butter, sugar and eggs. Add chocolate syrup and mix well. Mix in flour. Then add nuts and vanilla. Bake 350º for 20-25 minutes or until the bars begin to pull away from the pan and are set in the middle. |

Chocolate Frosting |

Ingredients: 1/2 c butter 6 TBSP milk 1 1/2 c sugar 3/4 c chocolate chips 1 tsp vanilla

Directions: |
Directions:Heat butter in medium saucepan until melted. Add sugar slowly and continue to stir. Bring to a boil and stop stirring for 2 minutes. Remove from stove. Add vanilla and chocolate chips. Beat with whisk or mixer until of spreading consistency (this takes some patience).
*Variation: 1/2 c sugar + 1/2 c honey + 1/2 c maple syrup = as a sugar substitute. If you don't have chocolate chips, 3/4 c cocoa powder also works. |

Notes: When we were in our teen years, Mom was very good at making a treat just about every night. As bars were coming out of the oven, we'd sit around the table and overindulge. Little did we know this is how mom would get us to spend some quality time talking with one another. Such good memories and laughs all while trying not to wake up Dad! These bars were one of my favorites!! She sure knew how to get us to the table! You can't just have one.
