Directions:
Combine 1 3/4 c. flour, yeast, and nutmeg. Heat milk, 1/4 c. sugar, oil, and salt until just warm (too hot kills the yeast). Add to yeast mixture. Add egg. Beat at low speed for 30 seconds, scraping sides of bowl. Beat 3 minutes on high. Stir in remaining 1 1/4 c. flour to make a soft dough. Cover; chill several hours or overnight. Turn out onto well floured surface; form into a ball. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Roll into an 18 x 12 inch rectangle. Cut into 3 x 2 inch rectangles. Cover. Let rise for 30 minutes (dough will not double). Fry a few at a time in deep hot fat (375º) for 1 minute or until golden, turning once. Drain. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
